Exploring in Cali (March - May 2024)

March Excursions:

It has finally stopped raining and is warming up in California. This opens the door for more opportunities to explore around the state! Vel and I ventured out to a new resort and city, to Palos Verdes, California. We visited the Terranea Resort. Let me just say, it was all about those awesome views!!! Palos Verdes feels like it is surrounded by ocean. It is near San Pedro about 1hr. & 15 min from Newport Coast. The views were spectacular!!! We enjoyed exploring the grounds, some hiking and had a light dinner.

I captured this bridge at the Port of Long Beach on the way to Palos Verdes, CA! This bridge is so cool! The architecture is phenomenal! The shot came out better than I thought!

We stopped by a viewing area in Newport Coast. It is the most spectacular views of a canyon, homes and the Pacific Ocean. First the multi-million-dollar houses, townhouses and condos are gorgeous! Then the greenery of the canyons is mesmerizing. Lastly, you can see views of the ocean in all its glory. We didn't stay for the complete sunset, but I bet that was awesome as well.

My absolute favorite place to go is to the beautiful shoreline and beaches behind the Montage Laguna Beach Resort. The resort itself is not the star attraction, instead it is the beautiful grounds and spectacular view behind the resort! It is located in Laguna Beach high above the shore. I come here at least once per month, but it looks different every time due to the season. This is by far, the best views in laguna Beach (and there are plenty to choose from). Judge for yourself!!!

April Excursions:

Me and my husband was treated to a rare treat. I woke up this morning to a beautiful foggy day in Newport Coast. It was the most beautiful, thick, ominous fog I have seen so far in Cali. I woke up my hubby and said, "Get dress we are going to see the fog on the ocean." Fifteen minutes later we were off to Corona Del Mar Beach to see the fog.

We picked the right beach, because in this beautiful section where the water was in low tide, you could see the rocks below the ocean and the arch. The guy there said, it was a rare treat. So, I was so happy to capture this rare phenomenon at this beach this morning. We also saw this quaint little cottage overlooking the ocean. It had the most spectacular views and landscaped yard!

Daytrip to visit a new hotel in Newport Beach, Vea Newport Beach Resort. Going to explore luxury hotels is one of my favorite things to do. It is inexpensive (parking), and you can make it a special daytrip by having lunch, appetizers or dessert at one of their restaurants. We get to see and experience some of the most expensive resorts for free! (I'm a cheap date!) 😁 Check out this very cool water feature I posted on Facebook!!! https://www.facebook.com/100003833118664/videos/pcb.2994018244069250/866457461955490

Also, in the last two pictures 📸 you see a beautiful art installation. When you stand way back you see It is a woman posing, but when you come really close, it is a series of half colored marbles. How they created this piece is beyond me, but it is quite amazing!!! 💖

Quick daytrip to Pacific City and the Pasea Hotel in Huntington Beach. We have been to this beach quite a bit, but didn't know about Pacific City, a quaint shopping district with places to eat. We stopped at a BBQ place (can't remember the name) but the food was just so, so. After we left Pacific City, we stopped at the Pasea Hotel for some tasty treats. 😋

*Please note* the art installation in the first photo, 📸 This is a compilation of layered colored flip-flops that make for an unusual piece of art. Just goes to show you that anything can create art, you just have to see its potential and dream it. 💖

May Excursions:

It was time for another daytrip... this time to San Diego, California, specifically the San Diego Zoo and the marina area. It was pretty chilly this day, but we did see most of what we wanted to see. Lions, Camels, Elephants, baboons, etc... We are stopped at the marina area and got dinner. I wouldn't recommend mixing homemade hot chocolate, tacos and dessert, not matter how good it is, because you will pay the price later! But the food was delicious!!! 😋

Our first trip to Seal Beach. We were supposed to go to a wildlife sanctuary, but it was located on a naval base, and you needed prior clearance authorization to visit it, so we just hung out at the beach for a little while and split a smoothie @Bowlology 😋🥤It was

dee-lish!!!

Our last daytrip of the month was to Newport Back Bay. This was a completely gem of a find. We were looking for a different area and stumbled upon this place. The view of the bay is spectacular, and the small park is tranquil with gorgeous trees, plants and flowers.
