Hello Everyone and welcome back to my travel blog. Well... the White House day trips continue, this time to Bisbee, AZ. If you never heard of it or know where it is, don't feel bad... I didn't either until my daughter told me about it. Bisbee is 11 miles North of the Mexico border in South Eastern Arizona. What makes Bisbee so special is it sits in the Tombstone Canyon. Before Bisbee was a city, it was filled with tons of pine and other trees. The city was invisioned by pioneers. It used to be nothing, but then carved out of the mountain and created into a city and powerful copper mining town during the great gold rush. Pretty cool huh?

Bisbee was founded as a copper, gold, and silver mining town in 1880; the communities were created in 1902. Bisbee, AZ was named in honor of Judge DeWitt Bisbee, one of the financial backers of the adjacent Copper Queen Mine. In 1929, the county seat was moved from Tombstone to Bisbee, where it remains. Much has been preserved in the town. The copper mine still is there today and you can do tours. The town itself is filled with history and friendly people. When you arrive it looks like you stepped back in time. The town is very colorful and vibrant. You can here music everywhere you turn. There are rows of shops, restaurants and historic places. It is on the National Historic Places list as one of the oldest places in Arizona.

You can do tours of the copper mine and lavender pit, city tours on golf carts or just sit back and relax. Either way, it is worth the drive to experience history and a little piece of canyon heaven. If you plan to eat at the restaurants get there early. There are long waits outside, but then when you make it into the restaurants you will wait even longer. We stopped at a Vegan store and and picked up some treats, we didn't know at the time there was a restaurant in back as well.

If you go, be prepared to walk everywhere. If you blink, you will miss the town. It is very small, but entertaining and losts to see. You can rent bycicles and hoof it out on two legs! The city is at a higher elevation (5500 ft). It is very windy and chilly, so bring a jacket and where pants or bring them to change into later. Once the sun goes down it got cold! Brrr... Well we enjoyed out day trip to Bisbee. I hope you enjoy the pics of "Now" and "Then". I will see you on our next adventure! Stay tuned...
