Hello Friends and Family...

In March, our next one day adventure landed us in the Northern part of Arizona. Our first stop was at a beautiful overflow lake created from snow run off from the mountains. It was near Forest Lake, Arizona. Northern Arizona is the only place you can see and play in the snow (usually). So to see snow and the beautiful lake it created was a real treat!

Our next stop was to Petrified Forest National Park. We have lived in Arizona over 22 years and never knew this place existed...It is quite beautiful and massive. You could spend a week here and never see everything. There were so many different type of formations and the color was amazing! The Blue Mountains were our favorite! It is a 200 ft. tall canyon and a 2 mile hike round trip. But the steep incline makes it a bit challenging to breathe (due to my asthma and higher elevation). But, it was so worth it! Seeing the Petrified wood, which looks like wood on the outside, and crystal like on the inside... was spectacular.

After we were done at the Petrified Forest National Park, we drove down I-40 (the famous Route 66) to see the Teepees at the Wigwam Motel (Yes, they are real motels you can stay in) located in Holbrook, AZ. We also went to Winslow, AZ to see the original Route 66 sign and "Standing On The Corner" medal statue (song made famous by Chicago). I always wanted to snap a pic of the famous sign! We enjoyed talking to the local residents and learning about the small town, which has made a big name for itself. It was a nice detor and an enjoyable day trip!
